Rep. Mejia Denounces Swastika Discovered at Millburn Library
Millburn, NJ – Today, Rep. Analilia Mejia (NJ-11) released the following statement denouncing the swastika discovered at Millburn Library:
“I am deeply disturbed that a swastika was discovered at the Millburn Public Library. This hateful act of antisemitism must be unequivocally condemned. Hate has no place in our community.
Acts like these do not occur in a vacuum. Antisemitism has been rising across this country for years—in our schools, in our public spaces, in the texture of daily life. What happened in Millburn is part of that story and we must reject it.
In moments like this, we do not get to look away. It takes all of us to stand against antisemitism and ensure our neighbors feel safe, welcome, and supported. That’s why I have co-sponsored the Antisemitism Response and Prevention Act and the Holocaust Education and Antisemitism Lessons (HEAL) Act, supported resolutions recognizing the contributions of Jewish Americans and condemning antisemitism, and will continue to stand with our Jewish neighbors.
I commend Mayor Saccomandi, Millburn Township, and the Millburn Police Department for their swift response. My office stands ready to support any member of our community..”
